More quick thinking

I seriously wonder what goes to these guys head? Do they think that flashing a knife, and attempting to rape someone is romance?

Story:
Philippines -- Police said a driver allegedly tried to rape a 27-year-old woman in his taxi on Saturday night in Quezon City (Manila).

The woman told investigators how she boarded the taxi at around 8 p.m. Saturday. Soon, all the passengers, except for her, got off at the Metro Rail Transit station in Kamuning.

"The woman was sitting in the back seat, and the driver asked her to sit beside him in the front," a police spokesman said.

When she did so, the woman said the driver showed a knife, and started to touch her breasts.

The woman said she told the man that she would go with him to a hotel if they could eat first at a fast food diner nearby.

Inside the restaurant, the woman promptly asked the security guard for help. The driver managed to run back to his van and escaped. Police believe that the driver also had victimized other female passengers.

Males being drugged

As we have reported earlier, not only women are being given "date rape drugs". After all, the point of drugging someone can be rape, robbery, abduction - or any combination hereof.

On March 14 Earthtimes.org had a story about a 45-year-old Swiss man - a former Hollywood bodyguard and karate champion - who was found dead inside a Hong Kong love hotel in the Wan Chai nightclub district.

The article also mentioned other high profile cases which involved expatriates found dead after evenings out in the notorious nightclub district.

One of these cases involved a senior Finnish policeman who died of a heart attack at a Hong Kong hotel in 2003 after being administered with the "date rape" drug Rohypnol (flunitrazepam).

Bait and switch

This method is quite often used by scam and fraud "artists". The classic case is to have you believe you buy an original, say, watch - and then switch to a fake once you have handed over your money.

As with most methods, it can be turned and utilised against the criminal. Here is one such case.
It also goes to show that these folks are not always the sharpest knife in the drawer...

Piece of garbage

California -- A man is accused of trying to rape a female manager at a Centre City motel before three employees and a good Samaritan subdued him with a garbage can lid and a piece of wood.

The 22-year-old suspect walked into the Motel 6 Friday afternoon and asked about a room, officials said.

Police said the man jumped over the counter and went after the clerk, who ran to the back office, where the 35-year-old female manager was working. The three struggled, and the fight spilled into the laundry room, where a maid was working.

The maid struck the assailant with a metal trash can lid. The clerk broke free and ran across the street to a liquor store for help, police said.

A liquor store employee ran back to Motel 6, saw the assailant on top of the manager and beat him with a piece of wood, police said. The Motel 6 manager suffered a broken nose and a cut lip.

Didn't like the feeling

Seems very strange to me that the parents didn't check with the modelling agency, all the time her mother got this creepy "something isn't right" feeling.

Story:
Minnesota -- A 17-year-old girl told her parents a photographer had approached her at a local store, claiming to be affiliated with a modeling agency. The man even gave her $200 to buy clothes for the photo shoot.

"To make that money quick, there is something not right. I didn't like the feeling I got," said her mother. The parents took several steps to check out the man. They even contacted local police to check out his criminal history. They found out he had a clean record.

However, when the teen showed up at the hotel room in Brooklyn Park in March, she said she became frightened when the photographer locked the door. The man then showed her other teenager's pictures, some partially clothed, some younger than she. "Right there I was, oh my God, I mean, how much younger, I am 17-years-old and she looked very young and it scared me," the girl said.

After taking several photos of girl, she said, "All of a sudden he grabbed me by the shirt and ripped my shirt off and threw that on the ground." When the man stepped into the bathroom, the girl said she escaped, first peaking at his wallet to learn he had given her a fake name. She then ran to her car, called her Mom and then police.

Hotel rooms

In the eyes of a perpetrator, a hotel room is a "perfect" place for criminal activities - it's secluded and you can lock the door. Plus, people are used to a certain level of noise. In a sense it is "private" - kind of like domestic disturbances coming form a neighbor.

Story:
A female guest reported a male maid sexually assaulted her at a hotel in Middletown. She said the man came into her room around noon Saturday and fondled her in the bathroom.

When she tried to make him leave, he pushed her into a corner and attempted to kiss her, according to a police report.

Minnesota -- A man is being accused of forcing a housekeeper to engage in sexual relations with him at the Minneapolis Hyatt Saturday afternoon.

The woman told police that she was cleaning a room when the man entered, attacked her, removed her clothing and got on top of her.

According to the criminal complaint, the accused started biting and punching the housekeeper and put a towel around her mouth to stop her from screaming.

The woman said she tried to fight back by biting the man but that's when he started banging her head on the floor.

A hotel security officer heard the woman screaming and knocked on the door, the suspect opened the door shirtless and with his pants around his ankles. He told the security guard that everything was ok, but the woman screamed again and security forced their way into the hotel room and found her.
